Gaming used to be fun. Centipede, Asteroids, Super Mario Bros. Then all of the sudden, once we obtained all that good technology, games started to resemble work. I mean, what’s wrong with a game that only takes a couple minutes to play? If you read reviews of games these days, they mark games down because they only last 7 hours. 7 hours! I don’t want to play a game for 7 hours…movies don’t even last that long. I want a game to be more like a sandwich. If I really really really enjoy it, I might take more time, or lots of time, or eat more than one. I want to play games with a high score--they make me feel accomplished--I don’t want to play games where you have to dedicate a bunch of evenings just to get through it all so you can see a final animation. That’s silly. That makes me feel like I’m wasting my time. If I really want to see the final action sequence, I can always just log on to YouTube.
Games shouldn’t take over your life, but they should be fun, and they are generally not like that anymore. You should be able to share them with friends and do some friendly competition and laugh when you beat each other’s scores. But really—who wants to play a game dominated by people you never met before that just want to frag you for their own sense of self worth? That’s not the point of sharing games with people. That’s not the point of playing.
At Mojoroo, we’ve been trying to meet both of these desires, and we believe we’ve created a particularly unique system. When you sign up, Mojoroo is there for just you and a couple of your friends to play. We don’t want your buddies to get lost in a list of thousands and thousands of players. We hide all those unknown players from you. Pretend our site is a pizza, you've invited a few friends, and it's a friday night. We call this the Buddy Zone. You're in it the second you log in.
At the same time, some people do like the ultra competitions, and you can have that as well just by changing a single checkbox in your profile. In fact, for people who do this, you even have a chance to win prizes, world bragging rights, as well as meet some fun people. It’s friendly, safe, and we worked really hard to make it as responsive and easy to use as possible. When you get a chance, load up a new profile image, fire off a few invites, and have some fun. Our site is like a pizza. Enjoy it for awhile!
